Socialisatie
Brusselse huren worden gesocialiseerd!
Start van de 2e fase van het project
In July 2023, we launched the first phase of this project, reserved for tenants on the SLRB (Société du Logement de la Région de Bruxelles-Capital) waiting list for social housing.
This first phase was a real success!
More than 650 tenants of the Régie foncière submitted their applications, and today more than a third of these tenants are seeing the difference on their rent bill.
The second phase began on January 1, 2024 and, unlike the first, is open to all tenants. Its aim is to help our tenants, as we are fully aware of the financial difficulties that many Brussels residents face every month.
We understand that most of their income goes towards paying for their homes, compounding their financial challenges.
This expanded phase of the project is part of our ongoing commitment to the well-being of our tenants. By offering broader support, we hope to alleviate financial constraints and contribute positively to the quality of life of the Brussels community.

What does this measure involve?
The socialization of rents in Brussels is the fruit of a fruitful collaboration between the Region, represented by Nawal Ben Hamou, and the City of Brussels, with the active participation of Phillippe Close, Khalid Zian, and myself, so that the citizens of Brussels can have access to decent, affordable quality housing.
Socialized rents are an innovative approach to improving your daily life, while enabling you to stay in your own home in the heart of your neighborhood. This initiative adjusts your rent according to your financial situation, offering a solution that’s right for everyone. We are delighted to announce the extension of this measure to a larger number of tenants of municipal housing in the City of Brussels, effective January 1, 2024.
Conditions for benefiting from Socialization :
- Be a tenant of the régie foncière or Brudomo.
- Meet income requirements for social housing.
Advantage :
Social Rent Based on Your Income
No more worries about rent! From now on, you’ll only pay an amount proportional to your income, making your home more affordable and adapted to your financial situation.
End :
The aim of this initiative is to create an equitable residential environment that promotes everyone’s well-being. We are convinced that socialized rents will help strengthen the social fabric of our community and create fairer, more equitable living conditions for all our fellow citizens.
